Our Easter weekend

With everything going on with Buddy these days, we made the decision to not travel anywhere for Easter this year.  But we didn't want Nory to miss out on any of the fun!

Saturday, we invited some friends over for brunch and a little egg hunt.  Only one friend was able to make it, but it was still a lot of fun.  The kids were super excited to run here, there, and everywhere, no rhyme or reason to which eggs they picked up and which they left behind.  We hid the eggs a couple times for them, and then Nory "hid" them once for Ben to find.  Great fun.

Sunday morning, Nory woke up to find her Easter basket full of fun stuff from the Easter Bunny.  She was super excited that he brought her her very own lip balm.  It's watermelon-y!  She was also very excited about her space shuttle, which has flown all over the house now.  Our driveway is now decorated with her sidewalk chalk creations.  And the living room floor is covered in the pieces to her button string.  (I made it for her, since she has been having some trouble mastering buttons.  It's just a ribbon with a button at one end, then small squares of felt with a button hole for her to practice with.  Not only will this help with buttons and fine motor control, we can use the different colors to work on patterns as well.)  She was pretty happy about her basket, and made sure that everything stayed in it while she carried it around all day.

Recently, while re-organizing a few things, I found a couple of Easter books from when I was little (Weekly Readers for the win!).  I pulled them out so we could read them to Nory, and holy cow.  There was no point in trying to read any other books.  She only wanted those two, and then for some reason, decided Green Eggs and Ham was an Easter book as well.  So those were the only three books we read for a solid WEEK.  (Side note, I am amused by the fact that in one book, "everyone knows you aren't supposed to see the Easter bunny", but in the other, the Easter bunny handed the baskets and eggs directly to the kids.  If she notices this in the future, my plan is to just tell her that different places have different bunnies and different rules.  I guess.)  Anyway.  Nory got SO into GE&H that Ben, being the amazing Daddy he is, decided to make her some for Easter breakfast.  So he and Nory shared some green ham, and all three of us had green scrambled eggs.  It looked like playdough.  But it made Nory happy, so it was worth it.  Oh, and while we were eating, she saw a rabbit in the yard.  Ben asked her if it was the Easter bunny, and she immediately yelled out "Fank you for my fings in my basket, Easter bunny!!!"  Such a sweet girl.

Following our Seuss-ian breakfast, we headed over to our park and zoo to meet with our friends.  We took a ride around the park on the train (which Nory *loved*) and then walked over to the zoo.  The daddies took the kids around to the animals, while the mamas got some "free time".  She was trying to convince her little one to sleep, and I was trying to convince mine that it was not a good day to be born.  Luckily, we were both successful!  We had lunch with them, and Nory took a good nap.  That afternoon, Ben and Nory washed my car, and when Nory got tired of that, she decorated the driveway with her chalk.  All in all, it was a very full weekend, but a very enjoyable one.

 Chalk!

This is a difficult technique, only masters can handle it.
But it allows you to make sure you are coloring
all the way around you and not just in front.
